The Impact of Depression

Every element of a person's life can suffer under depression. It affects not only the mind but also physical and emotional aspects of the body. Understanding the emotional, psychological, and physical effects of depression can help people recognise what they are experiencing and seek appropriate support.

Among the several symptoms it may bring are stomach problems, headaches, and tiredness. Depression can also affect physical wellbeing, including energy levels and how resilient the body feels.

Depression can affect a person's cognitive capacity, thereby making decisions, remembering, and focussing becomes a challenge. It can also affect sleep habits, leading to either insomnia, or sleeplessness.

Additionally it can cause hopelessness, worthlessness, and despair. Along with tension in relationships with loved ones, it can lead to a lack of interest in hobbies and interests.

At its core, depression may be a very personal and isolated condition; therefore, getting guidance and support can make a big difference in how you manage depression.

If you'd rather talk it through than read on, you can book a free 30-minute consultation, or call or text me on 07739 466318.

We might all experience low mood from time to time. When it becomes more persistent, it can be helpful to consider additional support.

In my work with clients experiencing depression or ongoing low mood, I often find that it sits alongside other difficulties such as stress, anxiety, low energy, or problems with sleep. Some people struggle to get enough rest, while others may find they feel tired even when they are sleeping more than usual.

For some people, depression seems closely linked with periods of acute or long-term stress, often described as their ‘brain feeling overloaded’, which can be associated with reduced energy. Overthinking, particularly repetitive or ‘black and white’ thinking, can also contribute to a sense of overstimulation and ongoing tiredness.

Many people find hypnosis to be a deeply relaxing experience, which can support rest and help calm an over-stimulated system.

Others may have had a low mood as a result of a loss or a big change in their lives, such as a romantic break-up. I use a variety of approaches to help people cope with grief and loss.

Because everyone's experience is unique, it's critical that the method is right for you. This is why, when I work with someone experiencing depression or low mood, I offer a tailored approach to you as an individual, rather than a 'one size fits all' approach.

Any proposed session work undertaking is explained clearly, so you can make informed choices and feel comfortable with the process.

Many people suffering from depression will initially schedule a free consultation. This is a free 30-minute consultation in which you can discuss more and in private, with no commitment to arrange additional sessions.

Your consultation provides opportunity to discuss how low mood or depression is affecting you, how hypnotherapy can assist, what can happen in a session, and for me to address any questions you may have.

Sessions are not offered to replace talking therapies/psychological therapies or medication offered/provided by any medical practitioner/s. Please be aware that I do not diagnose, nor am I medically qualified.  Therefore, I advise all potential clients to speak with their GP (and/or mental health professional (if applicable) to discuss attending hypnotherapy sessions.

Sessions are available at my practice within a short drive from both Nottingham and Derby, with parking available just across from the practice.
