In a troubled world, we might expect many people to suffer from stress and anxiety, and this is before we consider all of the day-to-day experiences that can trigger even more anxiety.
Anxiety, on the other hand, is always a personal experience. Some people experience it in specific situations, such as at work or in social settings. Others may experience it without any apparent trigger. This is why it is critical that any assistance you receive is tailored to help you overcome anxiety in your own way.
Regardless of what is going on around us, it is possible to find a path towards a greater sense of safety in your own inner experience, allowing you to easily negotiate your way through challenges with more calm and ease, and to feel more in control of your own life.
My approach to assisting people in overcoming anxiety may differ from what you might expect, and it is not a 'one size fits all' approach. First and foremost, whenever we face a challenge, we frequently discover that the more we fight it, the more we try to suppress it, the worse we feel. This could be like trying to push a helium balloon under water - it just pops back up.
With anxiety being so unpleasant, it can be difficult to understand that these experiences could be controlled by an aspect or part of ourselves that is actually trying to help us - even if we are unhappy with the outcome. This could be something like trying to keep us safe, feeling in control, or protecting us. By fighting or attempting to push anxiety away, we may be playing a losing game if we only focus on running away from it without recognising the positive intentions that may lie behind it.
One of the approaches to anxiety encourages you to move away from the 'fight' against anxiety, discover what the part of you that is running it really wants, and then guide you towards more beneficial responses other than experiencing the unpleasant symptoms.
When we work in this manner, we not only have the opportunity to solve the problems we are currently facing, but we also have the opportunity to learn and gain a deeper understanding. Working with both the conscious and subconscious mind, this 'learning' experience can help prevent us from relapsing and returning to our old experiences.
By connecting directly with the subconscious through hypnosis, we can use the subconscious's rapid and natural ability to unlearn behaviours and gain more calm, confidence, and fulfilment in our lives.
Over the last 20 years, I have worked with a wide range of anxiety experiences in Nottingham, Derbyshire, and with clients from all over the UK and abroad.
